An investigation into the origins of the famous fortune cookie saying All progress occurs because people dare to be different led me to a dead end, and I missed these important points.

I’ve been watching Agatha Christie’s Poirot on the “BritBox” streaming service. I found The Mystery of the Blue Train episode (Series 10, episode 1) both intriguing and puzzling.
So, I read the book, which my lovely wife gave me for Christmas!
A Canticle for Leibowitz is just a great book, one of a kind.
I’ve read Men, Martians and Machines, and another Ace Double with Six Worlds Yonder and The Space Willies. many times since I was a child. The unifying theme here is: written by English sci fi humorist Eric Frank Russell.
Conquest of the Moon (Viking Press, 1953, Wernher von Braun, Willy Ley, Fred Whipple) describes a lunar expedition that could be accomplished with the technology of 1950. It’s the second of three books that explore the implications of Project Mars.
A few weeks ago, I visited the local King Soopers (Kroger’s brand name along the Colorado Front Range). There was a guy with a display of books by the customer service desk.
Some years ago, I read Vernor Vinge’s 1992 space opera, A Fire Upon the Deep. It’s a good read, and it has some interesting ideas.
I read American Steam Locomotives, Design and Development, 1880-1960, William L. Withuhn, 2019, Indiana University Press, ISBN 978-0-253-03933-0, 451 pages.
