Terrible Fortunes, April 20, 2025

I got two terrible fortunes at The Imperial Chinese restaurant in Denver Colorado.

• Time heals all wounds. Keep your chin up.
• Happiness is a direction, not a destination.

Oh, come on. “Time heals all wounds” is a pretty well known platitude. Sticking “Keep your chin up” on the end of it does nothing to freshen it up.

“Happiness is a direction” - humbug! Another lame platitude, on the order of “enjoy the ride”.

Neither slip of paper contains a true “fortune”, which would involve a prediction of the future.
